CONGRATULATIONS TO MTC
We can now announce that Barry Akehurst (Kew branch Head Instructor) and Darren Gaylor have both passed their Master’s Gradings. Mr Akehurst passed his 7th Dan grading, while Mr Gaylor passed his 6th Dan grading.
Both have been students of Mr Butterworth since they were Red Belts (Barry starting at the old Mt Waverley branch, and Darren commenced training in Ballarat).
Mr and Mrs Butterworth were honored to be invited to attend their grading by Grand Master Rozinszky. Darren is well known to the Saturday members at Doncaster, as he is a frequent visitor and guest instructor. Barry has also been to Doncaster recently, as well as picking up some extra practice with Mr Rozinszky and Greg during morning classes at the Glen Waverley branch.
To see each of these members pass through to this level is very rewarding. Barry now becomes just the fourth student of MTC to grade to 7th Dan under Mr Rozinszky. Both Barry and Darren have also represented Australia at World Championships in Poomsae. Their grading was of the highest quality, particularly their self defence!
Well done to both gentlemen. We are very proud of you both!
January Poomsae Training
Greg has been running some Poomsae training for red and black belts over the holidays. Ten clubs and
branches have been represented so far. Thanks to Darren, Andre and Christian for helping.
